Engaging in honest, direct
conversations with customers and stakeholders has its benefits.
The social media “atomic perspective of a person, product or
service’ is my theory based on engagement on twitter, blogs and facebook the
digital age of social media and connected consumerism and the characteristics
of an atom. Star atoms are stronger and similarly star brands have incredible strength and pull!
Social Media postings represent and create an atomic perspective of a person, company, product or service based on the comments, recommendations and reviews that are posted on twitter, blogs and facebook social media pages. These postings consist of an atom’s characteristics which are indivisible, held in time forever and are:
- Positively charged
- Neutral comment
What is an atom?
The
atom is the smallest unit of an element that retains the characteristics of
that element and cannot be decomposed by chemical means. Nuclear
physicists have shown the atom to be made up of three fundamental particles,
protons, neutrons and electrons:
- The proton is a sub-atomic particle with a positive
electric charge, occurring in all atomic nuclei. Proton in
Greek means ‘first thing’.
- The neutron is a
subatomic particle of about the same mass as a proton but without an
electric charge. It comes from the word ‘neutral’.
- The electron is a negatively charged subatomic
particle found in all atoms and acting as the primary carrier
of electricity in solids.
Why is it called a perspective?
The
word ‘perspective’ is quite apt in that the Oxford dictionary states
the following for its use:
- The art of
representing solid objects on a flat surface so as to convey the
impression of height, width, depth, and relative distance
- A
particular way of seeing something
- Understanding
of how important things are in relation to others
- Origin
from Latin perspectiva ars ‘science of optics’
A theory that fits together very
nicely, thus:
A social media atomic perspective of a person, company, product or
service is an atom of positive, negative and neutral comment that will never
decompose, it is held in time.
One soon gets to know the depth of a person or a company when one
reads recommendations or reviews about an individual, company, product, or a
service. Further more one forms an impression around a businesses social media
content (content rules), and presence as well as their response time and level
of engagement to both negative and positive comment and queries. One
ultimately experiences the breadth of businesses efficiencies via social media
and this can reinforce customer loyalty.
Coming back to the present time and
time again
Social
media and the digital age of blogs, facebook and especially twitter bring us
back to the present time and time again. Dealing always, in the present
moment releasing and receiving breaking news and breaking reviews.
Rich conversation & visuals
We
are told that “Blog and Twitter serve to work together to initiate and serve
rich conversation. YouTube Videos serve as rich visual content to support
all social media outlets. All three enable followers to find and follow content
that best suits their interest”.
Social media - word of mouth can be
the best publicity
We
are told that “word of mouth marketing campaigns via social networks and blogs
are opportunities for direct social recommendations and reviews. Social
computing embraces and enhances the natural inclination of many people to offer
their opinion on practically any subject they care to talk about” and
that, “word of mouth can be the best publicity”.
Engaging
in honest, direct conversations with customers and stakeholders has its
benefits:
The
social web amplifies the opportunity to listen and learn and invest ourselves
in two-way dialogue, enabling all to improve on delivery of product or service
to the people who depend on them – the customer.
Isn’t
it fascinating to think that there are millions of electric charges, both
positive and negative, taking place at this very moment as we engage on the
world-wide web. Positive and negative forces to be reckoned with, as positive
and negative comment from customers are mirror reflections of you, your
product, service or your business!
The Business Halo
Either
way, it is a win win situation for both customer and the person, company,
product or service because with connected consumerism one can build on both the
positive and the negative to see a better and BRAND new day!
An
atom is the smallest particle of a chemical element that can exist
It
is however indivisible, unable to be divided or separated
It
is held in time forever!
