Book Launch
An Autobiographical Book About A Journey of a Dream
Come True Born on a Feeling
Penguin Publishers and Exclusive Books, Hyde Park Corner Book Launch – September
2014
It was apt
that a celebration and book signing of the new publication took place at Hyde
Park Corner where Exclusive Books is thirty years old and due to its popularity
will see the shop floor increase in size mid-year 2015. Ian Fuhr’s multi-faceted business career
started in 1976 and was being celebrated after an almost forty year history.
Music
Flows Through Ian’s Veins
Dr. Bruce
Copley (left), a leading holistic animator both friend and business associate of Ian’s
opened the book launch by playing the bagpipes.
Ian has music
flowing through his veins and interjected a number of favourite melodies into
his book launch closing with singing a melody tribute to Sandy Roy his finance “What
a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.
Excerpts
from the Forward Written by Reg Lascaris – June 2014
“Get That
Feeling doesn’t disappoint. It provides
plenty of instruction from the school of hard knocks. At one stage, so much money went into this
black hole that Sorbet’s future was in doubt. But this book is not only a book
about entrepreneurship. It is also a
reminder of the huge strides South Africa has made in the past 35 years.”
Business
Tips Are Woven Into the Narrative
What makes
this book a good read and one that is well worth purchasing is that like many
other entrepreneurs around the globe Ian has as he calls it been a ‘serial
entrepreneur’. He has been involved in a
wide range of businesses from retail, to records, with music greats such as
Hugh Masekela (below centre) to race relations consulting in the apartheid years as well as
wildlife and still is a partner in the Lion Park with his brother Rodney which he
has plans to upgrade into an international tourist facility.
Not everything has fallen into place until
fairly recently. This will give hope to
many other people who may have lost faith in their career or business goals. This is the ultimate success story after an
uphill battle. Family have played a key
role and will continue to do so as the Group grows from strength to strength.
This happy ending is almost like a fairy tale and family are the glue to see it through!
The
Feel Good Factor of Owning a Sorbet Franchise Which Feels Just As Fabulous As
Walking Out Of One1st September 2004 marked the start of Sorbet with the launch of two branches, Norwood and Bedfordview. Ten years later there are a remarkable 108 branches with three having just opened at the end of August 2014. The first franchise was sold in 2009 and today there are 100 franchised stores delivering head-to-toe confidence across South Africa.
Sorbet Beauty Salons and Nail Bars have quickly established themselves as every city gal’s (and guy’s) answer to feeling fabulous, fast. Plus, plus, plus ‘Sorbet Man’ opened in Sandton at the end of August and ‘Candy & Co’ an ethnic brand culture of people and service is a new business phase in the Sorbet Group.
Their fresh
and professional approach to beauty for the modern day woman and gent has
evolved to a guest-following of over 100 000 loyalty members – and counting.
The Sorbet Salon revolution has spread its love across the country and
continues to seek out new store opportunities.
