Spectators have witnessed an action-packed international
wheelchair basketball tournament which commenced on Friday 25 July 2014. South Africa have outdone themselves in
winning three out of three tight test matches showing gutsy determination, agile
speed and excellent ball skill. Very well done
in holding the lead by close margins against world class competition!
Having followed the 2014 World Cup football just
one month ago it is evident that any football spectator or football fanatic would
enjoy this week’s final test match.The public are welcome to come and support our National Team in the 4th and last match in this exciting basketball series. Sports fans will appreciate the AmaWheelaBoys skill and speed on the court and in particular South Africa’s display of key tactical blocking defense and teamwork which is enviable for any ball sport team.

excellent blocking defence and intense speed and passion on the basketball
court.The team recently lost a few players and are now building a new and solid foundation of both experienced and young players to compete and win the one and only Africa team place for the Rio Paralympics. Head Coach Franck Belen has achieved great results to date and thanks to the dedication and commitment of players this is a top basketball team to watch going forward. The SA National coach and team are now starting to see the fruits of combined hard work and team effort and French Franck Belen’s extensive International basketball knowledge. An excellent platform to work off going forward.
Final Test – Friday, 19h00 1 August 2014
On Friday
the visiting French team will be looking to win the 4th-Test Sasol All Star match
and South Africa will be aiming to endorse their credible success to date. The match takes place at the Mandeville
Sports Club in Bruma, Johannesburg on Friday 1 August 2014 at 19h00. Attendance is highly recommended and there is NO entrance fee. While the team is made up of 16 top sportsmen and 12 players at any one time on the basketball court they all gel well together. Players that played an active and impressive game on Sunday 27 July and are worth viewing in action are (in numerical order) 8) Gift Mooketsi 10) Richard Nortje 14) Jaco Velloen and 15) Luvuyo Mbande (Deputy Captain).
